Impressed with the new Masterpiece Movie Line? Interested in some villains for your MP Movie Optimus prime and Bumblebee? It seems we finally have our first look at Masterpiece Movie Barricade.

Via Baidu we have a small and a bit blurry image of what seems to be the left side of the vehicle of Movie 2007 Barricade. This figure had was listed and then cancelled on Amazon Spain as we reported before and we had no extra information regarding its official status.

Will be finally see Barricade in the Masterpiece line? The leak even indicates the image as MPM-05, but as usual we suggest to take this with a grain of salt. We are sure many fans would love to add the Decepticon bad cop to their Masterpiece Movie collections.

Still waiting to complete your set of Autobot and Decepticon Clones? Pay attention to our report since Titans Return Wingspan & Cloudraker Clones 2-Pack Has Been Released In Canada.

This 2-pack completes the Clone group with previously released Fastlane and Pounce which came in the Chaos Of Velocitron and  Siege On Cybertron gift sets. The figures were spotted at EB Games store in Ontario, Canada according to friend site Cybertron.Ca and a report from a Facebook user. The set goes for $26.99 (21.47 US Dollars) plus tax. A curious detail to comment is that you can still find these with the “Walgreens Exclusive” stickers on them.

Good luck and happy hunting for all Canadian fans, we hope this means that we will see this pack in US soon. You can check the images after the jump and then sound off at the 2005 Boards!

Impressed with the New York Comicon reveal of Grotusque? Thanks to 2005 Boards member Smokescreen38 (and a very quick standard shipping from HasbroToyshop) we can share some gret Titans Return Grotusque In-Hand pictures for your viewing pleasure.

The gallery shows Grotusque in all his glory with comparison shots next to TR Doublecross. While sharing some basic engineering and parts, Grotusque has got his own personality and design. On the other hand, Titan Master partner Fengul is a nice remold of Doublecross’ Daburu with great paint applications. The little guy got a menacing new head inspired by old Japanese Beastformer Platinum Tiger. As a great extra bonus, we get a detailed Die-Cast Scorponok Titan Master (retool of Titan Master Fangry).

Once again, thanks to Twitter user @miiakira2017 we have some more Transformers G1 Early Concept Art to share with you.

This time we have very early drawings for G1 Octane in all his modes, a pair of “Car Cases” that may also work as launchers for the vehicles (the art shows Jazz and Sideswipe), and finally an illustration where we can see Bumblebee, Grimlock, Rumble/Frenzy and the Seeker design, all of them with details very similar to the original toys, maybe planned for magazines or general illustrations.

Regarding the Grotusque 3-Pack announced Thursday at NYCC, are you pinned between a “wasn’t available when this went live!!” rock and the hard place of “will it ever be re-stocked on HTS?!?”

First of all, you are not alone as even Transformers artist Marcelo Matere – who worked on the penciling for the collector cards – did not procure a set. And yet, we bring you hope old friends courtesy of two tfw2005 members doing excellent homework. In a chat with HTS, Antz received the following intel:

“We apologize, but we do not anticipate any additional Grotusque becoming available on our website. However, we may find that we have additional duplicate orders in the system that must be canceled. Should this happen, the item you are inquiring about may appear on our site in an extremely limited quantity. We cannot guarantee that this will happen, nor can we give any estimates as to when this may happen.”

Meanwhile, IceConvoy discovered the following:

“I found a listing for Grotesque in the TRU system. Item# 384582 EX TRA HTC COLLCTR CLUB2. Found it easy when I saw that Arcee had a similar discription but as CLUB1 when I searched her item number. Can’t post any screen pics unfortunately but the item number can be easily verified.”

Thanks to a behind the scenes photo from an Instagram fanpage dedicated to Hailee Steinfeld, we have with us our possible confirmation of John Cena‘s role on Transformers Universe: Bumblebee movie.

Spot him if you can see him and squint to see what’s written on his jacket. It’s unmistakably the same Sector 7 logo spotted on another Sector 7 agent not too long ago. Come to think of it, he’s wearing the same uniform as the S7 Agent we saw on the set previously.

Talking to Mr. Cena is our beautiful star actress Hailee Steinfeld.

Right next to them is a harpoon-like device on top of a vehicle. If you shift your memory back to the first Transformers movie (2007) you may notice that Sector 7 used a similar contraption to capture Bumblebee and take him away to Hoover Dam.

Still excited for the new Titans Return Grotusque? Well, thanks to artist Ken Christiansen for sharing his Titans Return Grotusque Preliminary Alt Mode Design.

The image was shared via Ken Christiansen’s Facebook and Ken also gave us some details about his work:

“I got to contribute to the alt mode design for the new Titans Return NYCC Exclusive Grotusque figure.

Commissioned in partnership with Hasbro, I did a first pass look on the alt mode to help the design team come up with the final product!”

The design is an awesome new and detailed rendition of good old G1 Grotusque and we see that toy designers could keep most of the ideas.

Thanks to Facebook user Sam Robertz for sharing some pics of the Lucky Draw style MP-36 Golden Lagoon Masterpiece Megatron. We first got wind of this item being out in the wild back in September, and this gives us some additional looks at the figure. Assuming Sam didn’t grab the same one from the person that originally shared, there are at least 2 out in the world, so all you Lucky Draw collectors good luck on your hunt! It was a busy week for all of us here at TFW2005. NYCC 2017 was in full swing, but sadly yielded no new info for the Movieverse toy collector. Let us put that away in the past: You are now joining with us on our weekly Transformers Universe: Bumblebee movie news update.

Last week started off with a surprising yet welcome news. Legendary voice actor Peter Cullen confirmed that his voice will be featured as Optimus Prime for the Bumblebee movie. We expect a possible cameo appearance of the Autobot leader or a voice message giving instructions to Bumblebee on Earth. We are yet to see a truck resembling Optimus rolling out on the set.

As we moved further along the week, news was scarce. It may have been due to the fact that principal photography was being moved from Santa Cruz to Los Angeles. Our first image came from none other than the You Tube sensation Christian Busath (dubbed by the fans as The Fruit Ninja). It is possible that Mr. Busath will have a comedic role. Christian, updated his official Facebook page with some behind the scenes images featuring star actress Hailee Steinfeld with the iconic Volkswagen Beetle.

Speaking of which, Hailee Instagrammed a photo of the interior of the car which features a nice steering wheel with an Autobot logo.

Out of nowhere, John Cena entered the arena as a Sector 7 agent. Even more images surfaced; confirming the name of his role as ‘Burns‘. It seems like a nice little homage to the Burns family of Transformers: Rescue Bots.  Cena was not alone. Accompanying him is a group of military uniform clad soldiers with vehicles decked out with the same sort of harpoons used on the first Transformers movie to capture Bumblebee. Jorge Lendeborg Jr. was also seen acting with Ms. Steinfeld.

Finally, we learned that the filming will be shifted to an undisclosed location at Long Beach, California on October 13th.

Imaginarium Art is showcasing another G1 Seeker at this year’s Shanghai Comic-Con. This time we have Skywarp.

The statue seems to be coming with two additional swappable faces but no other details are available.

If we take their Starscream Limited Edition Statue for example, this statue may also be made of polyresin and bit expensive too.

Acid Storm is one of those Seekers we don’t usually see often as a toy. We are sure you will be glad to know that Iron Factory Annouced Their SGC Shanghai Convention Exclusive Acid Storm.

The only other Legends size Acidstorm we’ve ever got was from the Generations line from Hasbro in 2014. So, it’s good to see a third-party representation of the green Seeker.

The second Movie Masterpiece figure is out in the wild across the globe, MPM-4 Optimus Prime. Featuring his look from the first movie, Optimus hits all the key Movieverse points – long nose cab, flames, mouth and battle mask faces, energon swords, blaster, Matrix of Leadership. His transformation is complex but fun, and he looks spot on in both modes. Other than some fitting issues in vehicle mode, it’s an impressive piece. He pairs well with the also stellar (but not perfect) MPM-3 Bumblebee.

TFW2005’s Masterpiece Movie Optimus Prime Gallery

Recent Masterpiece Releases: MPM Bumblebee, MPM Optimus Prime, MP38 Optimus Primal, Megatron, Sunstreaker, Masterpiece Pre-Orders.

Quick Thoughts:

Not going into a full review, it’s not my style and the members of the 2005 Boards have that covered.  I’d just like to touch on a couple points.  I know there have been concerns raised with this piece, though I am not 100% sure of the specific issues.  I tend to stay away from figure discussion before I get a hold of things, I treat incoming figures like movies, and the release discussion is like a spoiler.

That being said, I didn’t find much wrong here.  The robot mode, no problems.  The vehicle mode, getting everything to line up perfectly is difficult.  I gave up, as fixing one popped something else out of place.  This is most noticeable where the window meets the engine.  All 4 wheels are also difficult to get touching the ground at the same time.  Not saying it’s impossible, but it was fidgety enough that I gave up.

Cosmetically, I’d prefer the darker blue seen on MP-10 from Takara.  Or similar. This is more of a primary blue, reminds me of Superman from the 70s.  Don’t dig it.  This color scheme, along with the bright yellow used on Bumblebee rather than the proper sunset orange, takes these 100 dollar adult-ish toys and makes them look like kids toys.  Which sucks.  Masterpiece toys, G1 (if going for toon angle) or Movie, should be screen accurate.  And these, color wise, are not.

Overall though, it’s a fun, impressive piece that like Bumblebee, is only a couple minor points away from being perfect.
